2007 Milestones


The Foundation has served more than 650 young burn survivors and funded treatment for more children than in any year since the Foundation’s creation in 1985.

15,000 new donors supported the Foundation’s work.

L.A. Troupe Theatre-in-Education reached a major milestone.

The Foundation’s three-person performance troupe reached the quarter of a million mark in bringing to local school children a program teaching them how to prevent burns and what steps they need to take to reduce injuries should a burn or fire occur.

Careful, That’s Hot! changed behavior.

More than 85% of parents and caregivers who participated in Careful, That’s Hot!, a scald prevention program, reported making changes to prevent burns to children in their kitchens, where most household burn injuries occur.

Burn survivor newsletter unveiled.

The Foundation began publishing, Our Voice, the first newsletter in the U.S. by and for young burn survivors.

New School Re-entry program supports children returning back to school.

The Foundation provided guidance to young survivors, their families, school faculty and classmates to ease the transition back to school.

Camp programs flourished.

Camp Gung-Ho and Family Camp, co-sponsored by the Foundation, hosted more than 230 burn survivors and their families for wonderful opportunities to connect with others who have had similar experiences.

The Foundation appeared in national and local news coverage with several segments on CNN as well as in Los Angeles area broadcasts and newspapers.
