Luis

In January 1999, three-year-old Luis was burned when hot food spilled onto his head, face and arms at his home in Sinaloa, Mexico. The resulting burns left non-hair-bearing hypertrophic scars on left side of his scalp and keloid scars on his cheek.

Through relatives in Los Angeles, the family connected with the Children’s Burn Foundation in 1999. On April 1999, Luis and his father arrived from Mexico to begin his reconstructive surgeries.

Luis underwent several surgeries and medical treatments over several years to address the scarring on his face. The Foundation provided the funds necessary for all of Luis’ surgeries, living, travel and all other medical expenses while undergoing treatment.

Luis is now an active 13-year-old little league baseball player. His parents report that his physical transformation has lead to improved confidence.
