One of the most difficult issues that young burn survivors face is an incredible sense of isolation. When youngsters attend the one-day camp sessions at Camp Gung-Ho, they see children like themselves, children with whom they can bond, establishing lasting friendships. The freedom to swim and enjoy water play with other children who won’t stare is liberating for these youngsters. At Camp Gung-Ho, recreational activities and team-building exercises, such as a ropes course, help build confidence, assurance and self-esteem. At the Children’s Burn Foundation, we know that the complex interplay of physical and psychological injuries resulting from a burn can profoundly affect the lives of survivors. By providing a safe place for young burn patients to connect and build fellowship, we help them move beyond the burn injury in their past to the full potential of their future. Camp Gung-Ho provides one-day outings in the greater Los Angeles area throughout the year. Camp Gung-Ho is open to burn survivors 6 to 16. If you are interested in attending one of our camps or in learning more, please contact us. |
