About Our Council

about-council-photos-left.jpg

Close to thirty years ago, Carol Mancino founded the Council of Children's Burn Foundation. The Council is at the heart and soul of the organization. They help create once-in-a-lifetime experiences for child burn survivors through Camp Gung Ho, the annual children's holiday party and other fun activities. These events allow child burn survivors and their siblings to just be kids and forget the stress of medical treatments while bonding with other children who have been through similar traumatic experiences. The Council also supports the Foundation's community outreach and fundraising efforts, including the Giving New Hope benefit each year.

Letter From The President

Dear Council Members,

I have the privilege and honor of serving as your Council President this year and I am looking forward to working with each of you to continue the important work of the Children’s Burn Foundation. I have been a member of the Council since 2017 and have thoroughly enjoyed every meeting, zoom call, event, and opportunity. I’m proud to serve with each of you and love the passion and tenacity that you bring to this work.

I would be remiss in not first thanking Dana Kitaj for her outstanding leadership of the Council over the last several years. Throughout the pandemic and the advent of zoom meetings, Dana led with creativity, thoughtfulness, and boundless energy. We are extremely fortunate to count her amongst our membership and I will continue to count on Dana for her sage wisdom and her quick wit during my term.

I would also like to thank each of you for agreeing to give of your time and talent by continuing to serve on the Council this year. I offer a special thanks to those members who in addition to their Council roles have also offered to join me on the 2023-2024 Board of Directors. We have a wonderful group of women who are well prepared to champion our good work and ensure our continued success.

In an effort to get a head start on the year, below are our key dates for 2023-2024. I know our members have many demands on their time and I am hoping this will allow you to calendar our meetings and events early.

Please take special note of our first general meeting October 5th and the launch of our exciting new event, Taste of Hope, on October 15th.

I can’t wait to see you all in person and kick-off what will undoubtedly be another successful year serving our mission and our children.

Best,
